Carolyn "Kelly" Simmons died unexpectedly in Santa Barbara at Cottage Hospital on August 16, 2015 at the age of 67.
Kelly is survived by her husband Bill Simmons of Lompoc; daughter Lisa Simmons of Whittier; daugter Stacey Freiwald of Virginia Beach, Virginia; son Will Simmons and his wife Dania of Aliso Viejo, California; grandchildren Jazmin Freiwald, Gavin and Dax Simmons. She also leaves behind her beloved daschund "Pepsi."
Kelly was born on June 26, 1948 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Henry and Kay Bonneau. She married Bill Simmons, a U.S. Air Force service member in 1967. After moving to Lompoc California in 1980, she began working for local businesses, most notably Books West, and Village Veterinary Clinic.
Her most significant accomplishments are the amazing circle of friends she created from all walks of life, her love for her family, the lives she touched, and the love she showed to others. She was also a caretaker of wayward pets, and wayward people. Her door was always open to visitors, and treated her children's friends as if they were her own. She was a unique and amazing person with several talents. She loved to cook and entertain; and was also a skilled artist, spending countless hours creating personalized pieces for her friends. Kelly made Lompoc a special place for many, and her gifts, love and friendship will be truly missed. She was ever caring and selfless, a true treasure, and her loss will leave a void with many.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North "A" Street, in Lompoc with a reception to follow at the Simmons' home at 513 Crosby Dr., Lompoc. Pastor Ron Wiley will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kelly's life. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 513 Crosby Dr., Lompoc, CA 93436.
