Carrie Lee Buckhanon Purter
Carrie Purter of Lompoc was born on April 23rd, 1937 in Tallassee, Alabama and was called home on December 16th, 2013. She was 76 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents Suzzie Gray Buckhanon and Drew Buckhanon, her brothers Edmond (Sam), Aaron, Morrell and Ostell, and her sisters Roseana, Minnie, Geneva and Virginia.
Carrie married Paul Franklin Purter in 1957 and started their life journey. Paul was enlisted in the United States Air Force and together they traveled many places eventually settling in Lompoc. Carrie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist since 1965. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and loved in the community.
Carrie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Paul Purter, her daughter Gloria, her sons Paul Jr. and Mark, her grandchildren, Lonje' Deschamps, Andre' Turner, Sylvia Purter, Cali Purter, Paul Purter III, Nicole Purter, Mark Purter II, her great-grandchildren, Amelie Deschamps, Camille Deschamps, Aaliya Turner, Aniyla Turner, Audrey Turner and her sister Rebecca Johnson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on December 28th at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church at 1pm. Pastor Ronald Wiley officiating. Viewing at noon. Carrie will be interned in her home of Tallassee Alabama January 18th, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given/sent to the family at 300 North X St, Lompoc, CA 93436 to help with the cost of returning Mom home.
