Obituary

Carrol Pearl Paaske passed away suddenly Sep. 16 at the age of 94.

Born in Colome, South Dakota her parents were Gottfried and Lottie Boyce Picker. Moving to Los Olivos in 1935 she lived with her sister, Helen Burrill until marrying Harry Paaske in 1937. They lived at White Hills until after World War II, then moved to Lompoc where she resided until her death. Carrol worked at Johns Manville and joined their Quarter Century Club, retiring in 1969.

Carrol loved to read, sew and crochet and was famous for her homemade Christmas candy. In recent years her favorite pastime was cheering on her Dodgers and attending baseball spring training. After retiring Harry and Carrol traveled in their motor home to the western states and following his death in 1985, she often traveled the world with her daughter, Karen, and was always ready to go! She celebrated birthdays in Casablanca, Saigon, Ushuaia and the Pacific Ocean sailing from Maui to LA.

She was a life member of the Lompoc Hospital Axillary working in the hospital gift shop and volunteered countless hours at the Lompoc Valley Historical Society where she has been on the Board of Directors since 1988.

She is survived by her daughter Karen, brother Daniel Picker of Portland OR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her wishes were for no services and internment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lompoc Valley Historical Society, PO Box 88, Lompoc CA 93438.
