Obituary

Charles "Chas" Guest passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Chas was born in Manchester England on February 13th, 1935 and lived through the Blitz during the heavy bombing of the industrial North during the Second World War. In 1954 he was called upon to serve Queen and Country in Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards, both at Buckingham Palace and then during the Suez Canal Crisis of 1955. In April 1957, he married the love of his life, Madeline, as part of a triple wedding that included two of Madeline's sisters, Marie and Ann and their respective grooms Dean Higgins and Joe Cormier. This wedding was covered in The News of the World. The three men were lifelong friends.

Chas was father to two children, Anthony and Paul, who were born in 1958 and 1959 respectively. In 1963, Chas and family immigrated to the United States to follow the American Dream. Chas was hard working and became an employee at General Telephone, where he quickly progressed through the ranks through his stalwart attitude. As a former footballer (soccer player), he drove the development of this fabulous sport at Lompoc high school in the late 1970s in collaboration with a British mathematics teacher named Joe Hope.

In 1991, Chas became a grandfather with the birth of Paul's daughter, Francesca, and then again in 1994 with the birth of Anthony's son, Grant. Chas retired in 1997 at the age of 62 and enjoyed travelling around Europe and North Africa with his family. Chas experienced many battles over the years with serious health issues and his cardiologist thought him to be superhuman and likened him to a cat with not 9 but 12 lives.

Chas made it to his 60th wedding anniversary on April 27th 2017 and finally succumbed to pneumonia on May 10th 2017 in Lompoc after a long battle. He is survived by his wife Madeline, sons Anthony and Paul, grand children Francesca and Grant, and his beloved sister Bernice.
