COL. CHARLES L. BEAUDRY, U.S. ARMY (RET.) 1917 – 2008

Charles Langworthy Beaudry was born August 21, 1917, in Lexington, Massachusetts, to Charles and Laura Beaudry. He died on January 27, 2008, at his home in Lompoc at the age of 90.

Charles graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1940. He served his country as an Officer in the United States Army and rose to the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1969. While in the Army, he attended and graduated in 1950 from Stanford University at Palo Alto, California, where he completed doctorial studies in engineering.

While at Stanford, he met and married Laurel Beth Lane on June 8, 1951. They settled in Lompoc in 1967.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Laurel Beaudry of Lompoc, and three children, Charles Beaudry, Elizabeth Copeland, and John Beaudry. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Elise Douglas, Laura Douglas, Anne Beaudry, and Michelle Beaudry.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Camp O-AT-KA, P. O. Box 239, East Sabago, Maine, 04029. Camp O-AT-KA is an Episcopalian boys' camp that Charles attended as a youth, and also served as a camp counselor later in life.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiated by Father Cunningham, with private family burial to follow. Services are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
