With profound sadness the family of Charlotte Compton announces her passing on December 21, 2019. She died peacefully in her sleep after a long illness.

Charlotte was born September 17, 1931 in Frankfurt, Germany and raised during WWII.  She met and married AF service member Lloyd Compton (retired MSGT) in 1954 and came to the US 1956.  Charlotte taught herself English and received US citizenship in 1961 of which she was immensely proud of and never failed to exercise her right to vote.  Charlotte and Lloyd raised four daughters while traveling many places during Lloyd's 26 Air Force career, finally settling in Vandenberg Village after Lloyd's retirement in 1974.

Charlotte was active in school PTA, Girl Scouts, and Veterans Affairs at VAFB.  She was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion (Post 125) for over 40 years and volunteered in the military community.  She was a member of St Mary's Episcopal Church for many years and active in Martha's Guild, Outreach Committee, and Stephen's Ministry.  She crocheted lap blankets for veterans, seniors, and prayer shawls for her community.  Charlotte loved quilting, knitting, crocheting and mostly enjoyed her garden.  She was devoted to her four daughters and five grandchildren.  She is survived by daughters Terri, Linda (Cliff), Heidi (Greg), and grandchildren Jordan, Kerry, Madison, Kelsey, and Jillian.  Charlotte was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11am, at St Mary's Episcopal Church, 2500 Harris Grade Rd., Lompoc.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Mary's Episcopal Church, or Calvary Baptist Church Youth Group, 3355 Constellation RD, Lompoc.
