IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine Frances
Ball
December 21, 1947 – January 27, 2021
Christine Frances Ball of Lompoc, Ca. died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the age of 73.
Christine was born December 21, 1947, in Alhambra, California to William and Mona Griffin.
Her family lived in the San Francisco bay area but moved to Tucson, Arizona when she was in Elementary School. While in Jr. High and High School, Christine excelled in music, playing piccolo, bassoon, and flute in school bands and marching bands. She eventually moved to San Diego, Santa Monica, and Malibu, where she worked in several pharmacies.
In 1970, she married Steven Ball, a Navy Cryptologist stationed in Hawaii, and they began a successful 50-year marriage. While in Hawaii, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kirsten Anne, and over the next few years the family moved to California. They lived in Novato, Bakersfield, Goleta and finally moved to Lompoc in 1984.
Christine loved Lompoc. She immediately became active in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church, often playing her flute to accompany the choir. She was an active docent at La Purisima Mission State Historic Park, working in the Tienda and spending countless days demonstrating bread baking in the old style hornos (beehive ovens) for thousands of 4 th grade students from all over California.
Christine was a loving wife, a great mom, an avid reader, an American History buff, an Amateur Radio (Ham) Operator and a lover of all things Irish. She also started her own ceramics business, making items to sell at craft shows and holiday boutiques, becoming well known for her ceramic pots for African Violets. She was especially proud of her Irish (Griffin) heritage.
Christine is survived by her husband Steven, her daughter Kirsten Anne (Kenneth) Chipps, her sister Kathleen Griffin, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mona Griffin.
Christine will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.
