Clara Reiner Lea Zook, 94, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013. She was a long time resident of Lompoc. The youngest of 7 siblings, she was born in 1919 in Tripp, South Dakota into a pioneer, homestead family of the Dakota Territory.
During her marriage to Charles Lea she traveled the world as a military wife and homemaker and had 3 daughters who were born in Hawaii, California and Italy. She enjoyed being a waitress at the Vandenberg Officer's Club, the Royal Coach and The Jetty, but her real loves were dancing with her husband Ken who has preceded her in death and her extended family including great-great grandchildren.
She was very active in the Grange, Half Century Club, Stich and Chatter, Widow and Widowers Group and the Lompoc community Woman's Club. She attended the Lompoc Presbyterian Church and its Mizpah Circle. Her warm, caring fellowship with these groups was an important part of her life.
She is survived and deeply mourned by her sister, Marie Streyle. The "2 girls" were inseparable and always on the go.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 11:00 am. At the Presbyterian Church.
A Special Thank You goes out to Drs. Ekstrum, Pierce and Reimer and the wonderful staff at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center. The Lord blesses you with skills balanced with compassion.
