Obituary

Clara Viola Schieber, 96, of Lompoc, California, passed away peacefully February 6, 2015, at the Comprehensive Care Center in Lompoc. She was born December 31, 1918, in Wayland, Ohio, to Velma and James Edison Orr. Her family came to California in 1921 and settled in the Los Angeles area. She graduated from El Monte High School in 1937. Clara married Donald Edward Schieber December 14, 1940. They had two daughters, Donna and Cathy.

Clara was a housewife and expert seamstress, making most of her daughters' clothes and hers. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for both of her daughters. She was an excellent baker and candy maker and shared those skills with others. As Don was a Los Angeles County fireman, she was on the Los Angeles County Firemen's Women's Auxiliary Council and was President for three years. Clara joined Trinity Nazarene Church in 1980.

After Don's death in 1980, she started a Widows and Widowers group at Trinity Church with Pastor Tom Wilson's guidance. That group became the Golden Fellowship for the seniors at Trinity, and she directed it for several years. She also sang in the church choir. Her relationship with God and sharing His love with others was very important to her. Her family was also very important to her. She loved being with all of them and cherished having grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought her much joy.

Clara is survived by her daughters, Donna (Bill) Weber of Lompoc and Cathy (Jerry) Tacas of Santa Maria, California; granddaughter, Traci (Shawn) Barry of Castaic, California; great grandchildren, Brendan and Kaitlyn Barry; sisters, Bernice Northrup and Elyse Smith; brothers, Ralph Orr and Vern Orr; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Velma and James Orr; her husband, Donald Schieber; grandson, Brian Weber; great granddaughter Brieanne Barry; brother, Clyde Orr, and sister, Ilene Murphy.

The memorial service will be on Wednesday, Feb 11, 2015, at 1 pm at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be on Thursday, February 12, in the Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall.

The family wants to thank the many caregivers at the CCC for the wonderful care they gave her since November 2009.
