On Saturday Clive Foy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Vernon Francis Foy and Mildred Gorbett Foy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bina May (Gore) Foy and his brother Bill Foy. His wonderful spirit will be missed by his daughter Colleen Moser and her husband John, daughter Heidi Holdsambeck and her husband Rob, his grandchildren Wes Taylor, Kirsten and JR Linn, Kassandra and Amanda Holdsambeck, and his great grandchildren Abigail and Robert Linn, and Christopher Holdsambeck . Clive enlisted in the 13th armored division in 1939 and served with the Army Air Corp flying A-20's in the Pacific theater during WWII. He retired from the military in 1970 to pursue a career teaching drafting at Central High in Little Rock Arkansas. He loved living on the farm in Jacksonville and created a lifetime of stories and memories to those that had the good fortune to spend time there. In later years, Clive and Bina shared a lot of great adventures with their motor home club and the Elks.
Clive and his bride came to Lompoc to be closer to family in 2002. It was an interesting transition from a 180-acre farm in Arkansas but one they embraced. They made lots of great friends through St. Mary's Episcopal Church and throughout the community. Those friends meant a lot to him. His ability to connect the generations through hilarious stories of his adventuresome life will be missed. Even though his health was in decline recently, he always closed our family diner prayers with a phrase that speaks to his character. "Keep us ever mindful of the needs of others". Amen.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 2800 Harris Grade Road in Lompoc, with Rev. Michael Cunningham presiding.
Donations may be made in his name to the Marian Home Care & Hospice, c/o Marian Medical Foundation, 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria, CA 93454.
