Clorann (Witherspoon) Butt of Lompoc, California, serenely passed away on July 23, 2018, at the age of 84. Clorann was born December 13, 1933, in Charleston, South Carolina, to James and Rosella Witherspooon. She later married the love of her life, Edward Henry Butt Sr. on April 5, 1955, a proud Marine, Minister and Outstanding Chef. Clorann traveled with Edward throughout his military career until they settled in Lompoc, California, in 1975. She loved helping and caring for others.

Clorann graduated from Allan Hancock College with an A.A. and an A.S. degree in Early Childhood Studies.  She later entered the healthcare field as a nurse's aide and continued her education and received her LVN license. She worked at Duarte Hospital, Lompoc Hospital and Lompoc Convalescent Care Center. She spent over 30 years as a healthcare professional and fought for the proper care of all her patients, especially for the care of seniors when she retired from Lompoc Hospital and began working in the private field of home healthcare. Her mission in life was to ensure everyone received proper healthcare and had food on their table.

Clorann was a firm believer in God. She supported her husband throughout his ministry. She loved singing and could often be heard singing to and with her children and grandchildren. One of her golden rules was to treat others like you would like to be treated. She also believed your body is just a shell protecting your spirit until God calls you home.

Clorann is preceded in death by her parents James Sr. and Rosella Witherspoon, her husband Edward Butt, Sr., her daughters Clorann Avery and Sherry Richards, her brothers Charles, James, Jr. and William Witherspoon, and her sister Mary Sanders.

Clorann leaves behind her sister Bernice Smalls, Charleston, SC, daughters Teresa Butt, Las Vegas, NV, Cynthia Jiles, Santa Maria, CA, sons-in-law Joseph Jiles and William Richards, Santa Maria, CA; sons Edward Butt, Jr. and Thomas Butt, her daughter-in-law Juanita Flagg, Lompoc, CA; grandchildren Farrin and Jared Richards, CA, Jolissa and Ayana Jiles of CA, Chiquita Sperow, Alex Avery of NV, Nathan Avery and Jessica Bangel, CA, and great grandchildren Corra, Mycal, and Korbin of NV, Jazmyn Avery and Dylanmarie Strege, CA, Warren Avery, IL and Jayla Whetstone, KS.

Clorann loved all her nieces and nephews but particularly Vince Shelton and Jesse Witherspoon, VA, Melvin Smalls, SC, Sharon Cureton, CA, Betty Jenrette, Shannon Baker and Sherley Mcilwain, FL, and honorary daughters and sons Victoria Ibarra, Cynthia Rosauer, Evelyn Mayorga, Ritter Chism, Armida Cather, CA, and Marie-Ann Laersen, CA, and Jamie Rosauer, AZ, Raymond Sawyer and Eric Napper, Lompoc, CA.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc, CA 93436 from 5 pm to 7 pm. A memorial service will be at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 9 am followed by a graveside burial at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, 600 South C Street, Lompoc, CA.
