CLYDE WALLACE, JR.
1925-2008
Clyde Wallace, Jr., age 83 of Lompoc, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at his home. He was born January 10, 1925 in Sidney, Nebraska to Cora and Clyde Wallace, Sr. He was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming and came to Lompoc in 1961.
He worked at Enewetak, an atoll in the Marshall Islands of the Central Pacific Ocean, for years as a heavy equipment operator. He met his future wife, Jackie, in Cheyenne, Wyoming on a return trip from Enewetak. They were married for 47 years.
Clyde was a member of the American Legion, Post 211 and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed camping, outdoor activities including rock hunting, and working in his yard.
He is survived by wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Wallace, son Brian K. Wallace, grandson Gary Wallace and granddaughter Samantha Wallace, all of Lompoc, as well as his aunt, Doris Moffett of Greenly, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cora and Clyde Wallace, Sr., as well as his sister, May D. Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Clyde's name may be made to the American Legion, Post 211, 636 North H Street, Lompoc, CA 93436.
No services will be held. Cremation with scattering at sea will take place at a later date.
