Clyde W. Morrison, Jr, 84, of Lompoc died Wednesday August 4, 2010 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center with his two sons by his side.
Clyde was born on September 19, 1925 in Durant, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Clyde and Annie Morrison. He spent his childhood and teen years living in Oklahoma until joining the Air Force. Clyde proudly served his country in the Air Force for 24 years. While stationed in England, Clyde met a young Danish woman named Birthe Hass who he married on October 3, 1952. The couple had two sons and eventually settled in Lompoc in 1971 when Clyde retired from the military. He spent the next 20 years working as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician for the civil service at Vandenberg Air Force Base until retiring. Clyde enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, fishing and drinking beer, and tinkering in his garage with old refrigerators and freezers.
Clyde is survived by his two sons and their wives, John and Jeanine Morrison of Casper, Wyoming and Ronnie and Susan Morrison of Lompoc, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-children, his sister Doris Brewer of Perris, CA , and 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 49 years, Birthe, and his brother.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Private interment will take place at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
