Obituary

Curtis Alfred Lee, Sr. was called home on March 10, 2023.  He was born on January 1, 1947, in Cleveland County, North Carolina to Silas J. Lee and Ethel McILwain.

Curtis joined the Air Force at the young age of 18 after the passing of his father, where he was shipped off to fight in the Vietnam War.  After serving eight years with the Air Force, he then went on to become the first black fireman in Santa Barbara for eight years before switching his career to a mechanic and construction.

He was predeceased by his six brothers Silas Lee, Jr., Willie David Lee, John Calvin Lee, Anderson Lee, Sr., Robert Lee, and Samuel James Lee, Sr., and three sisters Cora Lee McCain, Mary Pointer, and Margaret Cauthan.

He is survived by his wife Dolores Lee, daughters Shameika (Raymond) Burgess, Oni Lee, Danielle Denmark, Jazman Garrett (Benjamin Ornelas), sons Curtis (Michele) Lee Jr., Clifton Curtis Lee, Rickey Lee (Lisa Vezelsky), Bennie Garrett, and Tylon Lee, grandchildren Dakota and Brooklynn Anderson, Jacob Sanchez, Caylah, Evan, Daste, Adele, and Benjamin Lee, Maliah Lee, and Davianna Garrett. Sisters Bethenia Valentine, Minnie Jeffries, and Betty Sheppard, and sisters-in-law Marilyn Lee and Anita Barton. Brothers-in-law; Bobby (Susie) Mcwright, Gary Wright, Arthur Barton, Herbert (Ilene) Barton.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11 am, with a funeral service at 1 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.  A repast will follow immediately after the service at Event's Mission Valley, 138 Nort B St. Lompoc, CA 93436.
