Memorial services for Gerald D. "Jerry" Row, 74, of Lompoc, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25th, 2006 at the Lompoc Masonic Center, 420 East Fir St., with Pastor Robert Cornwall and Pastor Bill Denton of the First Christian Church and the Lompoc-Santa Ynez Lodge No. 262 F.& A.M. officiating.
Jerry was born May 6, 1932 in Keokuk County, Iowa to Asa and Antoynetta Smithhart Row. During the early 50's, he served in the U.S. air force for four years and was stationed in the U.S., Greenland, and Labrador. He was employed as an electrician for over 47 years and belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #68 in Denver, Colo. He moved from Denver to Lompoc in 1992, and for the last eight years enjoyed working as a bus attendant and or driver. He was a member of Crosswood Baptist Church in Northglenn, Colo., the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, a lifetime member of the Elks, and a dedicated Mason and Shriner. His passion included collecting clocks and watches, having fun at garage and estate sales and being an avid "computer guy."
He died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Earleen "Mickie" Row of Lompoc; son, Robert "Bob" Row of Denver; sister, Donna Freeman of Fairfield, Iowa; brother, Charles Row of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; son in-law, Rick Corwin and grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, and Brenden Corwin all of Ogden, Utah; father in-law, Earl Boyd and wife, Fern of Harrisburg, Oregon; step-father in-law, Charles Pettit of Lakewood, Colo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many special friends, and beloved dogs, Alex and Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ruth; brother, John Row; and daughter, Cathie Corwin who died in 2003.
