Obituary

Memorial services for Dale T. Lemen, 67, of Lompoc, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Veterans Memorial Building (100 E. Locust Avenue, Lompoc) with Pastor Donald S. French of Valley of the Flowers United Church of Christ officiating. Private interment will be at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Dale was born November 30, 1939 in Fresno, California to Edward and Dorothy Lynch Lemen. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he continued working in the aerospace industry and was employed as a systems analyst. He had worked for several companies including FEC, ITT, Lockheed, and most recently with InDyne. Dale was involved with Lompoc Little League and had coached, managed and served as president and treasurer. His favorite pastime was playing cards with friends and members of the American Legion Vandenberg Post 211.

Dale has been involved with Lompoc Little League for more than 30+ years. He was a dedicated volunteer to the youth of Lompoc. Dale served as Coach, Manager, Umpire, and on the Board of Directors as President, Treasurer and Safety Officer. He has been the Master of Ceremonies at our opening day ceremonies for the past 20 years.

Dale was the backbone of Lompoc Little League. He was always there to give valued advice to old and new board members. As Treasurer on the Board of Directors, Dale was responsible for assuring Lompoc Little League had the finances available to assure Lompoc Little League had the best and safest equipment for all the players. Dale's involvement for the past 30+ years has enabled Lompoc Little League to be the most stable youth baseball league in the district and in Lompoc.

He died Monday, October 1, 2007 at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Iris Lemen; daughters, Tina Aripez and husband Vincent of Phoenix, AZ, Karen Garner and husband Mel of Lompoc; sons, Todd Lemen and Craig Lemen, both of Lompoc; sister, Donna Pointkowski of Clovis, Calif.; grandchildren, Thomas, Ernest, Joshua, Aaron, Courtney, Andrea, and Kyra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
