Daniel Lee O'Connor, 67, born October 8, 1939, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, joined our heavenly father on Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Daniel spent his youth traveling the world as the son of an Army Master Sergeant, which instilled in him his strong commitment and unequalled devotion to family. Daniel attended Lompoc High school for three years and finally graduating from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Washington. Daniel was a prolific athlete, which carried over to a lifelong love for sports, which he shared with his family and friends. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and then returned to the Valley to start a 31-year career with Federal Service Corporation as a System Analyst. During these years, Daniel met and married the love of his life, Linda O'Connor in 1979 and together they raised two children. However, you could not define Daniel's life by his work or hobbies, but by his overwhelming compassion, caring and wit, which led to a great propensity for establishing many close and lifelong relationships, many through his memberships in the American Legion Post 211 and the Order of Elks lodge 2274.
Daniel was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Kenneth and Constance O'Connor, of Lompoc; brother, Thomas O'Connor, of Lompoc; sister, Kitty Bang of Fremont, Nebraska; niece Linda Bang, of Fremont; nephew, Jason Gardner of Denver, and father-in-law, Adam Schwindt, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Daniel leaves behind many cherished memories with his surviving Wife, Linda O'Connor, of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maricela O'Connor of San Diego; daughter, Jennifer O'Connor of Lincoln; daughter, Jodi Rowland of Elberton, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lynne and Joe Gardner of Bullhead City, Arizona; uncle, Jack O'Connor of Lake Placid, Florida; mother-in-law, Leata Schwindt, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends.
A viewing will be on Sunday, April 15, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Starbuck and Lind Funeral Home 123 N. A Street, Lompoc. A celebration of his life will be on Monday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the American Legion Post 211 located at 630 N. H Street.
