Darlene Bernice McNamee of Lompoc died Friday, September 4, 2015, at the age of 81.
Darlene was born June 23, 1934, to Laurence and Bernice Johnson in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Darlene married Thomas McNamee in May of 1953. Their family came to Lompoc in 1960. After Thomas' retirement as a missile technician at Vandenberg Air Force Base they operated Tags Sporting Goods in Lompoc for 23 years.
Darlene was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed genealogy, playing Bridge, traveling, reading and being with her family.
Thomas preceded Darlene in death earlier this year. She is survived by her sons Steven T. (Lourdrie) McNamee of Lakewood, California, David L. (Linda) McNamee of Lompoc and Craig R. (Lorna) McNamee of Lompoc; eight grandchildren, Tommy, Casey, Derrell, Leslie, Michael, Madison, Kailey and Cade; four great grandchildren, Cayden, Malani, Samantha and Riley; and her sister Doris (Hugh) Hale of Lompoc.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Larry Johnson and Bernice Valgren; her step-father John Valgren; her brother Larry Johnson, Jr.; and her daughter Julie D. Taaffe.
The visitation will be on Saturday, September 12, starting at 9 am, followed by the funeral service at 10 am at the Bethany Lutheran Church. The burial will follow in the Lompoc Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to America Cancer Society or Bethany Lutheran Church of Lompoc.
