Obituary
David Downs of Lompoc died Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at the age of 71.
David was born November 8, 1936 in Mangum, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served in the military for 20 years retiring in 1977 at Vandenberg Air Force Base. He was then employed as an engineer by ITT.
Formerly of Laredo, Texas, David has been a resident of Lompoc since 1974. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting and playing his guitar with other local musicians.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Renate Dows of Lompoc, son David Keith Downs of Santa Maria, daughter Evelyn Rene Downs and her husband David Glass of Lompoc, daughter Deborah Ann Morris and her husband Robert of Santa Maria, sisters Charlotte and Sue of Oklahoma, brother Gary Downs of Oklahoma, and two grandchildren Jayden and Trevor Morris. He was preceded in death by his brother John Downs in 2007.
The graveside funeral service will be on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 1 pm in the pavilion of the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
