Vigil services for David G. Gonzalez, 88, of Lompoc, will be 7 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
David was born December 29, 1921 in Jalisco, Mexico to Fortino and Maria Gutierrez Gonzalez. He moved to Santa Barbara County as a young boy and was raised and educated on the central coast. David was employed at Johns-Manville Corporation for 31 years where he retired in 1985. He loved to travel with his family and liked to work on cars.
He died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Carmel Mountain Rehab and Health Center in San Diego.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rita Martin Gonzalez of Lompoc, daughters, Maria deGraaf of Los Gatos, Calif., Teresa Gonzalez Bowrin and Rita Greco, both of San Diego; son, Jim Gonzalez of Carlsbad, Calif.; three brothers; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
David was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
