David Peter Gutierrez

(January 31, 1940 – January 27, 2024)

David Peter Gutierrez, 83 years old, passed away on January 27, 2024, in Lompoc surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Tilly Espino Gutierrez.

David was born on January 31, 1940, in Lompoc, he was the son of Jesus Gutierrez and Pasquala Martinez Gutierrez. He graduated from Lompoc High School, class of 1959, where he met and would marry his high school sweetheart, Tilly. They had two daughters, Terri and Tina. David was a proud alumnus of the Lompoc Braves, where he was the Varsity Football captain in 1958. Directly after graduation, he was employed at Johns Mansville in 1959, where he worked for a total of 42 years and retired in 2002. He was a heavy equipment operator, where he got to drive his favorite piece of equipment- a bulldozer!

David was an avid bbq-er every Friday night at the JM Club. He enjoyed ruminating on the good days, sharing his many stories and being surrounded by his family. David cherished attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events as well as reminiscing with his childhood friends.  He loved going camping, watching football and he was a great conversationalist.

He is proceeded in death by numerous brothers and sisters and survived by his older sister Eleanor Gutierrez Montoya Lompoc, his daughters Terri (Simon) Brandt and Tina (Mark) Pata, Lompoc, his grandchildren Jannelle Howerton, Kristina Grasser, Danielle Rangel, Lucas Brandt, Lompoc and Aerielle Lohse (Jake), Orland; his great grandchildren Kilee, Kiera, Tristan, Kendall, Hunter and Bryson, Lompoc.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10 AM at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
