David Farnum, Jr. of Lompoc died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the age of 54.
David was born April 29, 1955, to David and Hollie Farnum at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. Formerly of New Hampshire, he came to Lompoc with his family at the age of 10. A star athlete, he graduated from Lompoc High School with the class of 1973. He graduated from the University of California at Riverside with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science in 1983.
David was employed as a junior city planner in the city of Riverside and a volunteer in the Riverside community. He was a community service activist in Lompoc for many years and a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lompoc. He was also a member of Club Arcturus and Toastmasters International. He was a self-described chess master and a pool shark.
David is survived by his mother Hollie Farnum of Lompoc, sister and brother-in-law Erma Faye and Carl Smith of San Francisco, sister Evayon "Eva" Farnum of San Diego, brother Charles Isaac Farnum of Lompoc, sister Jacqueline Lynette Farnum of Lompoc, nephews Carl Smith, Jr., and Jeremy Charles Farnum, niece Nicole Faye Farnum-Johnson and grand nieces Miraze Isis and Heavynn Some Farnum. His father David Farnum, Sr. preceded him in death in 1996.
The visitation will be on Thursday, February 18, from 4-7 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The funeral service will be on Friday, February 19, at 2 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 1600 Berkeley Drive in Lompoc. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
