David S. Oliveira of Lompoc died Monday, August 26, 2012 at the age of 72.

David was born March 3, 1941 in Newman, California to Raphael and Rosalie Oliveira.

Formerly of Bakersfield, David has been a resident of Lompoc since 1969. He was the owner of Oliveira's Fashion Floors and Power Clean in Lompoc. He taught floor covering with the apprenticeship program at Allan Hancock College. He was a member of La Purisima Catholic Church, a past president of the Lompoc Kiwanis Club, a 35-year member of Elks Lodge #2274 in Lompoc and a cub master with the Boy Scouts of America. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and single action shooting.

David is survived by his wife of 50 years Carol Oliveira of Lompoc, his sons David I. (Amy) Oliveira of Lompoc and Daniel R. (Tasha) Oliveira of Lompoc and his grandchildren, Kelsey R. Oliveira, Makenna L. Oliveira, Luke D. Oliveira and Madison E. Oliveira. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.

The visitation will be Thursday, August 29, from 4-7pm with the evening vigil at 6pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Tom Cook on Friday, August 30, at 10am at La Purisima Catholic Church followed by interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the La Purisima Concepcion School, 213 West Olive Avenue, Lompoc, CA 93436.
