Dean lost his battle with heart failure at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California on December 23, 2017. He was born on October 16, 1947 to Clarence C. Clouse and Barbara Ella Clouse. He was the youngest of their five children. He was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from high school in 1966. Dean then enlisted in the Navy and became a proud "Seabee" where he served three tours in Vietnam. It was not a popular war and hard to come back to the states. He was discharged in Port Hueneme, California and remained in California for the rest of his life.
Dean went to college in Santa Barbara, California and received his Associates degree. He worked at a bank and then as a deputy sheriff for the county of Santa Barbara, California. Dean got his "career "job in 1986 as '" extra help" for the public works department for Santa Barbara County Road Yard. By the time he retired, he was a superintendent of North County in Santa Maria. Our family is so proud of his determination and the fact that anything he did was always 110%, including the love and support he gave to all of us.
Dean loved to bowl (inside sport for Michigan) and play horseshoes. We belonged to the Moose Camping Club for about 20 years and loved RV ing. Dean especially loved the poker and other card games. Dean was a member of the Lompoc Elks #2274 and the Bill Proud American Legion post 211.
