Dean Martin, lifelong resident of Lompoc, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the age of 97.
Dean was born to Thomas and Melvina Martin on May 1, 1909, in Lompoc. Dean graduated from Lompoc High School in 1928. He farmed in the West Valley Floradale area, retiring in 1961.
Dean was a member of the Lompoc High School Alumni Association and was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was a past district chairman and member of the Board of Directors for many years of the Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Republican Club and of the Lompoc Valley Historical and Pioneer Societies.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Janet Patricia Martin, of Fair Oaks, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lucille Martin, in 1999. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 AM on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The graveside funeral service will be at 10 AM at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Msgr. John Fitzgerald of Queen of Angels Catholic Church will officiate.
