DELMON K. PORTER
1926 – 2008
Delmon K. Porter of Lompoc, 82, died on Sunday, December 28, 2008.
Delmon was born on September 10, 1926, in Cleburn, Texas, to Cliff and Leta Porter. After being raised and educated in Texas, Delmon moved to Westminster, California, in 1956. He was transferred to Vandenberg AFB by McDonnell-Douglas, working in the defense industry. After his retirement from McDonnell-Douglas, he worked as a quality control inspector for various manufacturing companies.
Delmon was an avid reader was involved with the Lompoc Library. People were drawn to him because of his great sense of humor.
Delmon is survived by his daughter, Retha Caldwell-Morlatt of Lompoc, and his son, Delmon Jay Porter of Fort Smith, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Brian Clark of Travis AFB, Joel Caldwell and Ciara N. (Caldwell)Gore of Lompoc, and a great grandchild, Lincoln Gore of Lompoc. Delmon was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Porter.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
