Obituary

Deloris Jean Suhr Cobb. A celebration of her life.

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through his servant Dee.

On January 30, 2011, Deloris left us, after an illness of four months. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Maurice Cobb, and three children; Stephen Edward Cobb, Mary Ellen Cobb Caballero, and Wesley Alan Cobb. Deloris was also proud of five grandchildren.

She was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on December 10, 1926. She lived with her parents in Berwyn, a suburb of Chicago, up through her college years at the University of Illinois. Deloris earned her bachelors degree in bacteriology at the University of Illinois in 1949. She worked at several laboratories for six years after graduating. She met Maurice Cobb, a mechanical engineering student, on the college campus; they were married in September of 1950.

Dee's life was her children, her music, and her church. She was an accomplished pianist and served at her church on many occasions. Dee served as a docent at the La Purisima Mission. She also actively supported the Lompoc museum; hers was the face that greeted many visitors.

Visits with her children were the high points in her life, and Grandma Dee will long be remembered by five adoring grandchildren. Deloris was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church for most of the years that she lived in Lompoc. She sang in the choir; sometimes she complained that her voice wasn't very strong. We all hear her now.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 135 South E Street, in Lompoc, on Tuesday, February 8th, at 11:00 a.m.
