Shri Dhairyashil Shantirai Buch, husband of Kaumudini Buch and father of Naishadh and Rajesh, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2022.

Born in Tanzania into a family of twelve siblings, his abiding trust in family values was ingrained in him from early on. He lived a life full of experiences that spanned several continents, homes and careers; a life that many cannot even imagine. After completing his undergraduate education and marrying in India, he started his family in idyllic Uganda where he built a comfortable life as a high-school teacher and headmaster. Facing cultural persecution, the family was forced to flee to England as refugees, and the year-round tropical breezes of East Africa were exchanged for the harsh, icy winters of Europe. His resilience was tested as his career began anew as a civil servant. To provide better opportunities for his children, he again leapt into the unknown and migrated to the United States.

He took his sense of community, family, and determination everywhere he went. As a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, teacher, and community member, his love has been felt by many; his impact will be everlasting.

A rock and source of inspiration for many, his loss will be deeply felt, and he will be remembered with joy. The values he leaves behind are his rich legacy.
