Obituary

Diane Marie Harter of Lompoc, California passed away November 23, 2022, peacefully at her home. Diane was born August 10, 1936, sharing her birthday with her twin brother Dean Harris. The twins eventually were joined by their little sister Joyce Ann in 1943. The children grew up in Worland and Casper, Wyoming.  The three were certainly more than siblings, they were the very best of friends.

Diane was employed by General Dynamics in San Diego for most of her career finally retiring from Lockheed-Martin as an Administrative Assistant in 1995 in Lompoc.  Diane described her younger years in San Diego as incredibly fun with many life lessons.  Mission Bay waterskiing, spending time with her friends and solidifying her love of animals, specifically, her love of dogs.

Diane moved to Lompoc, CA in 1986 after marrying Charles "Chuck" Harter at her mother's home in Wyoming.

Diane's favorite pastimes were decorating her incredibly beautiful home, tending to her many award-winning rose bushes, spending time with her many special friends and neighbors and crafting Christmas decorations.  Also, important to Diane, was her family, and the many dogs she raised over the years.  To say she loved her Miniature Schnauzers would be an understatement. The "Schnauzer Patrol" were her life as well as her fondness for Champagne.

Diane was survived by her twin brother Dean Harris, his wife, Carolyn. Their children Brent (Kim), Roxanne (Jim), Dina and their four grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sister Joyce Ann Harshman, her children Bill (Becca) and Diane (Billy Mac), her three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Her stepdaughter Leslie Harter Zemeckis (Robert), and their four children and Stepsons, Keith, and James Harter. Preceding her in death were her parents Don and Evelyn Harris of Wyoming, her brother-in-law William "Bill" Harshman of Wyoming and her loving husband Charles "Chuck" Harter of Lompoc, CA.

A memorial gathering for Diane will be held Friday, December 02, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Santa Barbara County Lompoc Animal Shelter or Fire Station #2 on N. D Street to her "Guys".
