Dixie Lee Pack (Roemer), age 78, a beloved sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by loved ones at Cottage Hospital on Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Dixie was born to Jesse and Leeila Mae Roemer on March 1, 1944, the eldest of three children. She was born in Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina. She graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, but settled in Lompoc, California, where she fell in love with her late husband, Jack. Jack swept Dixie off of her feet while she was working at Woolworth's department store. Dixie was skilled in many trades and worked as a registered CNA, an accountant, and the job she was most proud of, mother.
She is preceded in death by her brother Jesse Whitfield Roemer, her parents, husband Donald Jack Pack, grandson Trever Mitchell, and daughter Mary Elizabeth Pack.
Dixie is survived by sisters Helen (Don Fanning) Busby and Diana (Merle) Manfrina, sister-in-law Glenna Hall, daughters Bonnie (Guy) Mitchell and Vickie (Arthur) Beltran, son Jeffrey (Ryzbel) Pack, grandchildren Danielle Needham, Miranda Beltran, Samuel (Lauren) Beltran, Leeila, Brendan, and Evelyn Pack, Savannah Pack, Tyler Crowell, great-grandchildren Cooper, Brecklyn and Bowen Needham, Jacoby Beltran and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including her lifelong neighbors. She also deeply loved the staff at Lompoc Artificial Kidney Center who cared for her for nearly 20 years, including her beloved bus drivers.
Services will be held at Starbuck Lind Mortuary on March 14th at 1 pm with graveside services to follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
