DOLORES "DOLLY" BETH
1942-2008
We mourn the loss of Dolores "Dolly" Beth who passed away in the comfort of her home on July 6, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Gerry Beth, her children Corina Yvette Luna, Lawrence Abram Luna, Jr. and Yvonne Estelle Sprague, her stepchildren Patricia Beth Gray and Raymond Charles Beth, her ten grandchildren Sara Rae, Ashwin Nicole, Amanda Lynn, Samuel Adam, Lawrence Abram II, Selina Jade, Shaeleen Cecilia, Yvonne Nicole, Jacob Lawrence, James Henry and one great grandbaby Cecilia Carmen, her mother and stepfather Josephine and Wayne Jackson, and her brother Louis Chavez.
A devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend- Dolly lived and loved well. She took great pride in her children and found endless joy in the company of her grandchildren. Her family revolved around her loving and giving energy.
Dolly was born and grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico. In December of 1973 she married Gerry, whom she lovingly referred to as her "soul mate." Gerry and Dolly lived in Anchorage, Alaska and Colorado Springs, Colorado before settling back in Lompoc in 1990. Dolly always looked forward to the next round of golf with the girls, but her kitchen was the heart of her house – open to all those she loved. Whether roasting chilies, making tamales, enjoying a good bottle of wine or a game of bocce ball, her enthusiasm for life was truly contagious. She honored and carefully tended her relationships with those she called friends and she was loved in return by so many. Dolly considered herself truly blessed.
We'll miss her generous spirit, her smile, her grace and warmth. It breaks our hearts to lose her but we know that we'll be together again one day.
A celebration of Dolly's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Trinity Nazarene Church, 500 East North Avenue in Lompoc.
In lieu of flowers, Dolly would prefer donations be sent to set up a Dolly Beth Scholarship fund for Junior Golfers (with whom she worked very closely for several years). Any donation should be sent/given to: Junior Golf Association, Attn: Laura Luna, 4300 Clubhouse Road, Lompoc, CA 93436.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
