Obituary
Lompoc native Dolores G. Lira passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at the age of 76.
Dolores was born June 8, 1932 to Alberto and Maria Gonzales. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She also belonged to the Guadalupanas, the Mexican Social Organization, and the Half Century Club in Lompoc.
A lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking and listening to her music.
Dolores is survived by her sons, John Lira, Victor Lira, Michael Chavez, John Chavez and Ramon Chavez, all of Lompoc, her daughters, Mary Ratcliff of Lompoc, Stella Chavez of Santa Maria, Lisa Aguirre of Lompoc and Rosalie Gonzales Handy of Lompoc, her sisters Josephine Saucedo of Soledad and Jennie Morales of La Puente, numerous nieces and nephews including Rosemary Flores of Lompoc, 18 grandchildren including Virgil Cortez, II of Lompoc, and seven great grandchildren.
The visitation will be on Sunday, October 12, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with the recitation of the rosary at 5 p.m. Father John Fitzgerald will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Monday, October 13, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. The arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
