Domenico Signorelli, 87, passed away on July 22 , 2015. He was born on June 5, 1928, to Bert and Annunciata Signorelli in Lompoc, CA. He was a graduate of Lompoc High School (1946) and UCLA-B.A. Political Science (1950), and also attended graduate school at both USC and the University of California, San Francisco. He was a Special Agent for the US Army in the Counterintelligence Corps (CIC) during the Korean Conflict.
As a result of his love for teaching others, he began his professional career as a teacher at Lompoc High School and taught American History and Government for nine years along with being Dean of Boys. He transitioned into educational administration becoming the Principal of Adult Education, a position he held for 36 years.
He was active in numerous clubs and organizations, including the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California Council for Adult Education, California Teachers Association, American Legion, Knights of Pythias, Elks Lodge, Lompoc High School Alumni Association Board of Directors, Lompoc Hospital District Foundation Board of Directors, Lompoc Library Board of Trustees, Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce, Lompoc Valley Club, Lompoc Valley Historical Society, Lompoc Valley Pioneer Society, Order Sons of Italy in America, Santa Barbara County Fair Board of Directors, and was a founding member of the Lompoc Democratic Club.
Awards and recognitions include being named Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 1993, ACSA Region XIII Adult Educator of the Year in 1994, and Grand Marshall of the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Denise; his two children, Darin and Denee; brother, Adam; and two grandsons, Domenic and Adam. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 10:00 am, at the Lompoc Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
