Don Dietrich Sr. died peacefully at his home in Lompoc California on February 27th.
A resident of Lompoc (Mission Hills) since 1982, Mr. Dietrich was born in San Diego on November 8, 1950, to Clyde and Sally Dietrich. Don Served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Constellation earning a Bronze Star. A member of the VF-96, which produced the first fighter pilot Ace of the Vietnam War.
After his service in the Navy, he and his family moved to Lompoc where he served for the US Department of Defense, Civil Service, for 38 years in an array of roles including Flightline Manager, coordinating many of Vandenberg's airshows, and as Program Acquisitions Manager for 15 years preceding his retirement in 2012.
Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Editha A Dietrich, sons Don Jr and Christopher, and granddaughters Dawnika, Thalia, and Christina. Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
Don will be missed by his friends and family due to his infectious sense of humor, easygoing attitude, and willingness to always help those in need.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 10 am at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary followed by a reception at his home at 12:30 pm.
