Donald K. Edge of Lompoc died Monday, August 26, 2013, at the age of 82.
Donald was born May 19, 1931, in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania to Edwin and Elsie Edge. After graduating from Wilkinsburg high school in Pennsylvania, he moved with his parents to Phoenix, Arizona where he met his future wife Peggy. He graduated from the University of Arizona and then served two years in the United States Army at White Sands Missile Range. Later he earned an MBA from Golden State University.
Donald has been a resident of Lompoc since 1964. He worked for Western Test Range at Vandenberg AFB and later for ITT. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was very involved in the community. He was a docent at La Purisima Mission, volunteered at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center, was involved with the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival, and was involved with the M2 program for prison ministry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Sue Edge, his son David (Aileen) Edge of Waxhaw, North Carolina, his daughter Valerie (Mike) George of Wallowa, Oregon, his daughter Pam (Russ) Taylor of Escondido, eight grandchildren and a sister Natalie Rabenstein of East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother Edwin Edge.
The memorial service will be on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 1 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lompoc. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment in the Lompoc Cemetery.
