Obituary
Donald C. Poss of Lompoc died Monday, June9, 2008 at the age of 70.
Donald was born October 3, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia to Clarence and Florine Ferguson. He was raised and educated in Cedartown, Georgia and graduated from Cedartown High School. At the age of 17 he joined the U. S. Marine Corp and served in Okinawa, Japan. He later joined the U. S. Air Force and served in various installations, and in 1968 was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Following his retirement as a Tech Sergeant in 1977, he went to work for Lorell Aerospace at Vandenberg Air Force Base.
Donald was a member of the American Legion Post 211 in Lompoc, the Moose Lodge and the Elk's Lodge #2274 in Lompoc. He enjoyed RVing, camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bertha Poss of Lompoc, stepson and daughter-in-law Larry and Jerre Hutchins of Lompoc, stepdaughter Sandra DeMars of Lompoc, stepson and daughter-in-law Ron and Betty Hutchins of Lompoc, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, brother Gene Poss of St. Louis, Missouri, sister Rolda Hammond of Phoenix, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Interment with military honors will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
