Obituary

Donald "Donnie" Clinton Rehkopf, 71 of Lompoc, California, formerly of Dumas, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021.  Don was born May 29, 1949, in Athens, Texas, to Wanda and Orin "Bubba" Rehkopf and moved to Dumas.  He graduated from Dumas High School in 1968 and then enlisted in the US Air Force.  He served all over the world including Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and retired after 22 years of service.  Don then worked as the Chief of the DRMO for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).  "DRMO Don" or "Disposition Don" served in Afghanistan and then Vandenberg AFB in California until his retirement.

Don was very active in the Boy Scout program.  Don and his Dad were both Eagles and he was particularly proud of his sons: Christopher, Clinton, Jonathan, Jeffrey, and Zachary who are also Eagle Scouts and his two sons Kevin and Brandon who are well on their way to becoming Eagle Scouts.

Don was thrilled to be able to ride a horse in the Doggie Day Parade in Dumas for his 50 th High School Reunion with friend and Classmate James Bagby.  He was an auctioneer and volunteered his time to local Charities.  He was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Lompoc.  He loved country music and dancing.  Since his retirement, he has spent time on home projects and keeping up with a multitude of friends and family.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to many.  He was always busy and was always good for a story, a laugh, and a cup of coffee.  He wore a cowboy hat and a big belt buckle everywhere he went.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved Him!

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Lynette, and sons Kevin and Brandon of the home, Christopher of Orcutt, Clinton and Stephanie of Bakersfield, his princess Melody Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Jonathan of Lompoc, Jeffrey and Kaitee of Santa Maria, and Zachary of Orcutt, 12 grandchildren: Deavanna, Elizabeth, David, Wyatt, Sienna, Noah, Gionna, Shiloh, Ethan, Raegan, Paislee and Haley who is on the way, brothers: David and Doris Rehkopf of Dumas, and Stevie and Kim Rehkopf of Dumas.
