IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Jean
Caffey
July 4, 1943 – February 1, 2023
Donna Jean Caffey passed away on February 1, 2023 at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center.
Donna was born July 4, 1943 to Gilbert and Elizabeth Oliver in Acushnet, Massachusetts. She grew up on the East Coast, Northern California and Hawaii due to her father being in the military. They moved to Lompoc in the 1960's when her father retired from military service to begin a career with the Bureau of Prisons.
Donna married Dale Caffey, whom worked with her father at the FCI. They raised their two children, Gloria and Steven. They divorced several years later. Donna went on to work at Vandenberg AFB for CSC and ITT.
Her beloved son Steven passed away at the age of 25 due to brain cancer in 1995.
She was a loving and devoted mother, sharing a strong bond with her daughter Gloria, whom took such great care of her mom. She was a cherished Auntie to her niece, Kristi Keith, her great niece Marissa Keith and great nephew, Jacob Keith. She played a pivotal role in their daily lives and received so much love and joy from them. She was especially close to her great niece, Marissa whom had epilepsy and passed away at the age of 20 in 2017. She cared for her with so much love and compassion. Her great nephew, Jacob was her pride and joy, she was beyond proud of him and his career achievements at Vandenberg Space Force Base, as well as the wonderful young man he is.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven and her niece, Marissa. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Andersson (Ben), sister, Debbie Caporale (Mike), niece, Kristi Keith (Joey) and great nephew, Jacob Keith all of Lompoc.
Very special thanks to the staff at the Lompoc Hospital and Comprehensive Care Center for their excellent care and compassion given to our beloved mother, sister and aunt.
A private family service is under the direction of Starbuck Lind Mortuary Chapel in Lompoc. We will love you and hold you in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to the Epilepsy Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital, it would be appreciated.
