Obituary
Donna Marie Hamby loving wife, mother and grandmother was born Donna Marie Pippin on April 13, 1953 in Memphis, TN and passed peacefully at home in Mission Hills on March 18, 2008 with her son Mason by her side.
Donna moved to Lompoc in 1959 with her parents T.C. and Helen VanZandt and sister Patricia Pippin. Her brother, Scott VanZandt completed their family in 1963.
She was a graduate of Cabrillo High School in 1971. Donna was active in the choir and involved in PCPA Theatre at Allan Hancock College. She was also involved in many Lompoc community activities throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Charles M. Hamby; children, Rebecca and husband Matthew Kennedy, Sandra and husband Ben Power, Mason Hamby, Rachel Hamby, Eric Hamby and wife Jennifer; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents T.C. and Helen VanZandt.
Donna will be missed by her "adopted" neighborhood children who were numerous and always welcome in her home.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Rev. Michael Cunningham of St. Mary's Episcopal Church officiating. Private burial will be at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation hours will be an hour prior to service time on Monday at the mortuary.
