Dorothy D. Berry, 82, of Lompoc passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010. "Dot", as she was known by, was born on October 17, 1928 in Broadwater, Nebraska to Frank and Ella West. Dot, in 1948, married Anthon Berry, a World War II Veteran and Bronze Star Recipient. Anthon worked in civil service and Dot was a homemaker raising six children. They would eventually move the family to Lompoc in 1964.
Dot worked as a waitress at many local establishments, including Hi's, Lyon's Inn, Pea Soup Andersons and the Golden Greek. She was a member for many years at Peace Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed just spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Anthon in 1998 and her daughter Toni Fringer in 2009. She is survived by her children; Connie Berry of Agoura Hills, Darrel Berry of Lompoc, Rod Berry of Orcutt, Carol Berry of Lompoc and Kathy Hopkins of South Carolina, grandchildren; Kim, Ricky, Stacy, Craig, Joe, Kurtis, A.J., Rod and Cody and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at 2:00pm at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend John Reil of the Peace Lutheran Church will preside. Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. www.starbucklind.com
