Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) Marie Romero, age 80 of Lompoc, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 10, 2025. She was born on September 7, 1944, in Shelby, Montana, to Woodrow and Victoria Brickner.

Dottie spent most of her childhood in Wisconsin with her three siblings, Mary Lou, David, and Dale, before moving to Lompoc with her family at the age of 17. She graduated from Lompoc High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating, Dottie met the love of her life, Benny Romero, in beautician school. The two married on September 5, 1964. They had celebrated 44 years of marriage together before Benny's passing in 2008.

Dottie worked as an accountant for over 20 years at Johns-Manville here in Lompoc. Her hobbies included camping at Jalama and the lake, vacationing in Mazatlán, Mexico, playing various card games and socializing with friends and family. Those who knew Dottie know she was an avid baker who made some of the best cookies, carrot cakes, and apple pies. She was a faithful member of the La Purisima Catholic Church here in Lompoc. Dottie was also a loving "Nana" to her two granddaughters, Lauren and Elena, and grandson, Joseph. She will be truly missed for the wonderful daughter, mother, wife, sister, and grandmother that she was.

Survivors include her two sons, Randy and Robert Romero, both of Lompoc, her daughter-in-law Robbie Romero (Robert), sister, Mary Lou Hopkins (John) of Wisconsin, brother, David Brickner, grandchildren, Lauren, Elena and Joseph, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Victoria Brickner, husband, Benny Romero, and brother, Dale Brickner.
