Douglas Wayne Grames, Sr. was born August 13, 1937, in Cadillac, Michigan, to Earl and Marvel Grames. He met and married Carolyn Carr in October 1956. His career in the Air Force brought them to Lompoc, where he retired in 1978. Douglas lost his battle with cancer on September 5, 2015, at his home in Lompoc, CA.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Grames of Lompoc; son Douglas Grames Jr, daughter Tina Grames, and five grandchildren Michael Dufour Jr, Brett Wilhite, Chris Wilhite, Derek Dixon all residents of Lompoc CA and Angela Styers of Colorado, six great grandchildren, Alana Apodaca, Alexia Wilhite, Jade, Derek and Johnny Dixon and Debra Dufour all of Lompoc and his brother Ken (Lora) Grames, sisters Joann Hasen of Cadillac, Michigan, Jackie (John) Sias of Cedar Lake, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Marvel Grames, brother Robert Grames, sister Betty Root and daughter Debra Grames–Merriman

Graveside services will be held at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery Friday, September 11, 2015, at 9 am with military honors.
