On May 12, 1979, Dyana Janel Ruiz was born in Santa Maria, CA to her mother Anna Ruiz, her father Jose "Joe" Ruiz, and big brother Joey Ruiz. In 1982, Dyana became the big sister to Yolanda Ruiz.

She was raised in Lompoc and attended Lompoc Unified School District. Dyana worked at Longs Drugs Store while attending Lompoc High School and after graduation. She began working at Chumash Casino and remained for several years, then later at Walmart. Eventually, Dyana relocated to Las Vegas, NV where she acquired employment at Oakey Assisted Living. She was a beloved favorite of the staff and residents alike. She had an infectious smile and a magnetic personality; she made friends wherever she went.

Mrs. and Mr. Ruiz would like to extend great appreciation to the staff of both the Compton Ward and the MICU of Cottage Hospital. Dyana quickly became the favored patient as she never complained and remained politely thankful to them throughout each stay.

She was preceded in death by her precious grandmother, Olivia Guerrero; grandparents Eusebio and Manuela Ruiz, and her beloved "Uncle Chopper." She leaves behind her parents, brother Joey Ruiz, sister Yolanda Ruiz, grandfather, Miguel Guerrero, niece Olivia Ruiz, and nephew Gabriel Ruiz as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Dyana also leaves her emotional support "puppy", "Pork Chop, '' a 4-year-old English Bulldog whom she loved so dearly.

Services are as follows: Viewing will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 4-6 pm with a rosary at 6 pm.  A funeral mass will be held at La Purisima Catholic Church on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10:00 am. Flowers are welcome or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara which partners with the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center, www.cfsb.org.
