Edward Breen of Lompoc died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the age of 83.
Eddie was born May 9, 1930, in Santa Barbara to Edward and Olivia Breen. He attended Santa Barbara High School.
A resident of Lompoc since 1948, Eddie faithfully served as a city employee in many capacities for 32 years. He was a member of La Purisima Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 211.
Eddie loved hunting and fishing and was known by many local hunters for his extensive knowledge of deer hunting. His other passion was watching westerns, especially those staring John Wayne. Everyone was always welcome in his home. He never closed the door on anyone. He was always found at the softball games and tournaments watching his son or daughter play.
Eddie was loved as a husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice, his daughter Christine (Mark) Pilon of Orange, his son Edward (Etta) Breen of Lompoc, his daughter Deena (Gale) Greer of Lompoc, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, his sisters Marian Thorpe of Santa Ynez and Cecilia Rios of Santa Maria, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Art.
The mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, October 5, at 10am at La Purisima Catholic Church followed by a reception. Private interment will be in the Lompoc Cemetery. The arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
