Obituary

Edward George Schutz, 83, a native of Lompoc, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2013. He was born to Peter and Ruth Vance Schutz in a house on South E Street on December 5, 1929.

Ed graduated from Lompoc High School in 1948 and served two years in the United States Navy. He owned and operated Ed's Mufflers Muffler shop in the 1960's and was a truck driver for many years. He was a founding board member of the Lompoc Youth Football League and was involved in little league baseball. Ed enjoyed racing, especially drag racing, and was a pioneer of drag racing building and raced many dragsters in the 1950's and 1960's. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed taking many out of state hunting trips. He also loved watching his grandchildren play softball and other sports.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and oldest son Anthony Schutz.

Ed is survived by his sisters Shirley Scofield of Ventura and Susan DeVaney of San Jose; children and spouses Peter (Micki) Schutz, Polly Rieck, and Alan (Cindy) Schutz all from Lompoc; grandchildren April Schutz, Erin Schutz, Ray Schutz, Noah Schutz, Eddie Schutz, Amy(Schutz)Hinkens, Lisa(Schutz)Robert and Brittany Schutz; great-grandchild Engelique Schutz and 12 other grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Ed's family would like to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. The memorial service will be private.
