Edward A. Sickert of Santa Maria died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the age of 89.
Edward was born February 26, 1921, in Bremerhaven, Germany to Max and Julie Sickert. He was raised and educated in New York City. He joined the United States Marine Corp. and served as an aviator at the U. S. Naval Station in El Toro, California.
After completing his education at Columbia University in New York he began his career as an aerospace engineer. He worked for MacDonnell Douglas and Lockheed. He retired after working for Computer Science Corporation in Camarillo.
Edward was a member of the Santa Maria Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A former ward clerk, he enjoyed many church activities, especially genealogical research.
Edward is survived by his wife of 31 years Danetta Sickert of Santa Maria and his sons Paul Sickert of Sacramento and Eric Sickert of San Francisco.
The interment will be in the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 25, at 1:15 pm. The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
