Obituary

Elaine Winefred Ulbrich Brade (1937-2009) passed away peacefully at her home on Monday. She was born in Baden, PA to Raymond and Louise Ulbrich from Germany. She was one of four children, two still surviving, Anna Cooke and Marietta Pahner.

Elaine was an honor student at Chaffey High School and graduated in 1955. She won all-state beauty queen in Ontario and attended the Los Angeles County Fair where she won Miss Photogenic. She attended USC and got a BA in Drama, then was married and had three children, Larkellen, Lynnette, and Scott Canady. She later attended Western University in Anaheim, CA and earned her Doctorate in Law.

As well as her children, she is survived by William A Brade, his 2 children and a total of 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Before meeting William, Elaine got her Real Estate license and sold property for Red Carpet locally. She and William owned Better Homes by Bill Brade and remodeled and built homes in North Carolina for 20 years. Elaine possessed many talents and passions. She was an accomplished actress and director and performed professionally on stage and film. She was co-founder of the Montessori Center School in Santa Barbara. She had a passion for the anthropology of the Southwest, NASCAR and Yorkshire Terriers. Most of all she loved and supported tirelessly her family and friends. She will be missed.

Donations in Elaine's name can be made to the American Heart Association. A viewing will be held for family and friends at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel on Friday from 4-6:00pm prior to cremation.
