Midge, 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Midge was born on October 31, 1924 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to William and Marietta Long, Midge being the second of three children.

Midge married her love, Charles Olmstead on January 26, 1946. They had two children and moved to Lompoc in 1963 after his retirement from the Army.

A soft spoken woman who acquired her nickname for her small stature, Midge had a warm and caring spirit and she always put others before herself. She deeply loved the Lord and was a dear friend and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Midge was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Chuck" Olmstead, her brother Milton and her sister June.

She is survived by her children, Charles "Butch" Olmstead of Lompoc, Bonnie Olmstead-O'Brien and husband Michael O'Brien of Lompoc, daughter-in-spirit Joan Johnson of Lompoc, grandchildren Katy Kolb-Olmstead of Santa Cruz, CA, Sarah O'Brien-Johnson and husband Adam Johnson of Lompoc, Nathan O'Brien and wife Danielle O'Brien of Fort Knox, KY, and great-grandchildren Christian and Olivia.

A memorial service will be held at Mission Hills Baptist Church on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 3:00pm.
