Elizabeth Joy Dodson of Lompoc died Monday, May 31, 2021, at the age of 92.  Joy was born on February 3, 1929, in Lompoc, CA. to John and Elizabeth Mankins.  Joy was a wonderful homemaker. She made clothes for herself and her daughter as well as tiny Barbie doll clothes.  She enjoyed counted cross-stitch, knitting, and crocheting.  She loved to cook and was a wonderful baker.  She loved to work in her yard planting and caring for beautiful flowers.

She was married to Johnie Dodson for 60 years. During Johnie's retirement, they traveled in their fifth wheel all over the country visiting relatives and making new lifelong friends everywhere they went.

Joy's spiritual life began in the First Baptist Church where she was married and worked tirelessly to shepherd many teenagers through listening and engaging in activities that brought them closer to God.  Later in life, she was an active member of Trinity Nazarene Church where she served as a greeter, helped with the Seniors Group, and participated in a women's fellowship and Bible Study.  Joy loved people always seeing the good in them.

Joy is survived by her daughter and son in law, Wendy and David Schroeder of Lompoc, her grandchildren Laurel Ciervo of Orcutt, Lindsey Caneso of Inglewood, and Amy Baker of Napavine, WA, her great-grandchildren Madalynn and Arianna Cross, Brenton Ciervo, Amelie Caneso, Sarah and Gabriel Baker.

Pastor Duane Armstrong will direct the memorial service on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Trinity Nazarene Church, 500 East North Avenue.  Cremation will be followed by private inurnment.  Memorial donations may be made to the Sarah House, P.O. Box 20031, Santa Barbara, CA  93120.  The arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
