Elizabeth (Betty) A. Godwin, Born 29 Oct. 1940 in Newfoundland, Canada passed away July 24, 2014. She worked at Vandenberg AFB as a guard and administrative assistant from 1985 until retiring in 2006.
She loved family, cherishing every moment with her kids and grandkids. She also loved curling up with a good book in her recliner; authors Nora Roberts and Tom Clancy were her favorites. She couldn't wait to do her daily crossword puzzle completing them with a pen. Before she was unable to do so anymore, her favorite activity was dancing, especially with her first husband Fred Martinez. She was a wonderful dancer and said she and her sister Laura learned to "rock and roll" together as young teens
Betty was one of the most caring, kind and compassionate people you could meet. She always had a beautiful smile on her face, even during her many illnesses.
She is survived by a sister, Laura Garrison, Nova Scotia, Canada; six children – Lydia (Steve Hamlyn) Newfoundland, Canada; Tony Martinez, Lompoc, CA; Dave (Rose) Martinez, Murrieta CA; Dan (Debbie) Martinez, Lompoc; Dina (Fred Brown) Lompoc; Sean Martinez, Lompoc; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Nancy and Chesley Harnett, brothers William & Tom Harnett, sisters Ruby Hartlen and Audrey Zegarchuk, and beloved daughter Debbie Cole.
Memorial service will be held at Lompoc Church of Christ, 29 July 2014, 1PM.
